For students in West Virginia who want to earn a master’s degree in counseling, there is really only one place to go – West Virginia University! Fortunately, the lack of options doesn’t mean you’ll have to settle for a subpar education. WVU’s two counseling programs are both CACREP accredited, and although the mental health track is currently accredited under the “community counseling” standards, the school intends to seek accreditation under CACREP’s new standards when the time comes. But what is most impressive about WVU’s top counseling master’s degree program is its set of 12 clear-cut, well-defined objectives. As such, there’s no ambiguity regarding what you’ll learn; the curriculum emphasizes such all important topics as Group Dynamics, Social and Cultural Diversity, Helping Relationships, Personal Growth and Understanding, and Career Development, among others.
Tuition and Fees: $15,354/yr

This concludes our ranking of the best graduate degrees in counseling in West Virginia. We’ll be sure to update this list as more schools in West Virginia develop accredited counseling programs, so stay tuned!
