How many counseling master’s degree programs profess to train students “to work with clients in a pluralistic society”? At New Mexico State University, the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology wields a clear awareness of the diversity and complexity that distinguishes contemporary society, and the curriculum emphasizes the need for counselors who are sensitive to multiple perspectives. An intimate environment, in which students progress through courses on a block schedule and enjoy a low student-to-faculty ratio, helps support honest conversations about the issues that affect various ethnic and socioeconomic groups across the country.
