Six UND Degrees for Psychology and Counseling

At Columbia Hall or online, the College of Arts & Sciences led by Dr. Brad Rundquist grants a 120-credit Psychology B.A./B.S. for the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks to investigate the human condition in Forensic Psychology, Behavioral Health, and Cyberpsychology tracks. Chaired by Dr. Rachel Navarro, the Counseling M.A. follows a 60-credit, in-person curriculum toward LPC certification with 580 internship hours in Addiction, Community Mental Health, Child and Adolescent, or Rehabilitation specializations. The K-12 School Counseling M.A. builds a 60-credit, 2.5-year hybrid sequence under Dr. Katherine Colles with CAEP-accredited online courses like Diagnostic Strategies plus two four-day Grand Forks residencies and supervised practicum, such as Ben Franklin Elementary.
Ranked #1 by College Choice, the Forensic Psychology M.A. logs into Blackboard for a 30-credit, self-paced degree directed by Dr. Joelle Ruthig that develops legal system expertise via 500-level courses like Behavior Pathology, AAFS Meeting participation, and one-week campus capstones. Producing the nation’s most Native-American grads, the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. spans a 92-credit, APA-accredited plan headed by Dr. RaeAnn Anderson with 100 percent internship success and Northern Prairie Community Clinic practice. About the University of North Dakota
The University of North Dakota originated on September 8, 1884, after Dakota Territory Rep. George Walsh successfully got his higher learning bill passed six years before statehood. In 1889, its first graduating coed class of eight included Cora Smith Eaton. Accredited in 1913, UND started distance correspondence courses by mail in 1911. Its 550-acre Grand Forks campus was hit by the 1918 flu epidemic, leaving 1,400 students dead. Courses temporarily ceased in 1919 when UND became a US Army base for World War I support. During the 1940s, enrollment at North Dakota skyrocketed quickly above 3,000 though. In 1963, President John F. Kennedy gave a speech at the University of North Dakota Fieldhouse. Twelve years later, its John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences opened. In 1997, UND rebuilt several of its 240 buildings because of the Red River Flood.

University of North Dakota Accreditation Details
On March 27, 2014, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Institutional Actions Council (IAC) formally notified the University of North Dakota of the Level VI accreditation reaffirmation through 2023-24 under its 12th president, Mr. Mark R. Kennedy, who earned the Grand Forks Herald Person of the Year Award. Located 719 miles southeast via Interstate 94 in Chicago, Illinois, this mammoth 19-state Upper Midwest Region accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to continually review UND’s 92 bachelor’s, 68 master’s, one specialist, 38 doctoral, and 47 certificate offerings. Particularly, the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. has been accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since November 1, 1969. The K-12 School Counseling M.A. is approved by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) through December 2022 too.
University of North Dakota Application Requirements
Admission to the University of North Dakota is labeled “minimally difficult” by Peterson’s since 4,366 of the 5,230 Fall 2017 applicants were triumphant for 83 percent acceptance odds. First-year Fighting Hawks must swoop into the Psychology B.A./B.S. after an approved high school or GED diploma. Fourteen units, including four for English, of academic prep are required. Only cumulative GPAs of 2.75 and higher are considered. Freshmen usually must achieve a minimum 18 ACT or 960 SAT score. Standardized tests are optional for adults age 25+ and sophomore or junior transfers. Non-U.S. residents must prove ELS Level 112 completion or 50 PTE, 6.0 IELTS, and 525 TOEFL marks. The School of Graduate Studies seeks M.A. entrants with accredited bachelor’s GPAs of 3.0 and greater. At least 20 behavioral science credits, including Developmental Psychology, are prerequisite. Satisfactory GRE General Test scores above 290 are necessary. The Clinical Psychology Ph.D. rises the GPA minimum to 3.2 and GRE marks to the 30th percentile.
The University of North Dakota only publishes a February 1st priority deadline for domestic undergrads. International Psychology B.A./B.S. majors must file before June 15th for Fall, November 15th for Spring, or March 15th for Summer. Counseling and Forensic Psychology M.A. cohorts must apply by April 1st or October 1st. The Department of Psychology has a firm Ph.D. deadline of January 1st. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-20, the University of North Dakota is billing in-state Psychology B.A./B.S. majors $9,367 annually. Minnesota tuition increases slightly to $10,315 per year. Non-resident undergrads spend $13,315 yearly. Part-time attendance costs $390 to $555 per credit. Active-duty military pay $250 per credit. Living at the Grand Forks campus’ dorms like Brannon Hall adds $8,974 for room and board. UND budgets $1,000 for books and supplies. Traditional annual study equals $19,341 in-state, $20,289 in Minnesota, and $23,289 out-of-state. Graduate programs charge North Dakotans $418, Minnesotans $531, and non-residents $627 per credit. Mandatory master’s/Ph.D. fees are $62 per credit. Online Forensic Psychology and Counseling M.A. cohorts spend $480 per credit regardless though.

The Freshman Scholarship gifts $12,000 per year to students meeting the 32 ACT or 1420 SAT minimum. The $5,500 Cultural Diversity Scholarship has a March 1st deadline for minority undergrads with GPAs above 3.0.
