Touro University Worldwide offers a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Arts in Psychology, and Doctor of Psychology in Human and Organizational Psychology through the School of Psychology; and a Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology through the School of Business.
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology is intended for professionals seeking to gain a deeper understanding of human behavior, and it promotes a holistic outlook on mental health through various forms of treatment. Students learn about general psychology, experimental psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, and abnormal psychology. The program requires the completion of 120 credit hours and includes general education, core requirements, electives, and concentration courses. Students are able to concentrate in industrial and organizational psychology, elementary education, secondary education, special education, child and adolescent psychology, and human services.
The Master of Arts in Psychology is intended to expand students’ knowledge in psychology and prepare them for a variety of professions. The coursework includes Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Learning Theory, Personality, Research Methods, and Ethical Practice in Psychology. The program places a special focus on the practical application of psychological research in real-world situations. The master’s degree in psychology requires the completion of 12 courses, including nine required courses and three elective courses chosen from one of three concentrations. The concentrations include media psychology, health psychology, and educational psychology.
The Doctor of Psychology in Human and Organizational Psychology prepares students to pursue leadership positions in the field. The program provides students with a deeper, more profound understanding of the field and how to implement psychology in the workplace. Students learn the skills and tools needed to create evidence-based solutions in their areas. They have the ability to focus in depth on organizational psychology, leadership psychology, and industrial psychology. The program features various steps, including courses in theory, research, and implementing theory into practice; pre-dissertation; and dissertation. Every student works with a faculty dissertation chair and committee to assist with both the pre-dissertation and dissertation phases. Students also select a topic to help them focus their research activities and enable the development of more concentrated skills.
The Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology features the application of psychological science to assisting individuals in organization with more effective function. Students learn how to help organizations understand the connection between happy and productive employees and superior function and profitability. Students learn how to educate organizations on influences of low productivity, low morale, lack of teamwork, and ineffective processes. The degree requires the completion of 36 credit hours, including nine core courses and three elective courses from a specific concentration. The concentrations include coaching and consulting, human resource management, and occupational health psychology. Students must also complete a capstone course that focuses on the relevant interests of individual students.
