About Park University
Park University was founded in 1875 and has its main campus in Parkville, Missouri. The university also has more than 40 campuses around the country, as well as a graduate school in Kansas City and a major campus center in Austin, Texas. More than 11,000 students attend the university, which was known as Park College for more than a century until it gained university status in 2000. The university’s official colors are canary and wine, which resemble gold and burgundy. The school has several sports teams in the areas of baseball, cross country, golf, softball, and volleyball and students play as the Pirates. The university was founded after a man named George S. Park donated the land to establish the college.
Park University Accreditation Details
Park University’s regional accreditation comes from the Higher Learning Commission, and many programs at the university are accredited by additional associations and government departments. The teacher education programs, as well as degrees offered in similar professional areas, are accredited by the State of Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The business and public administration programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The Master of Healthcare Administration is also accredited by the ACBSP. The undergraduate degree in nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the school’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which is a pre-licensure program, has gained initial approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
Park University Application Requirements
Students who want to apply to Park University must earn a GPA in high school of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale if they want to apply without also meeting the university’s minimum standardized test scores. Students who earn at least a 2.0 grade point average can apply as long as they also rank in the top 50 percent of their class or earn an SAT score of at least 1020 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math test. Students who apply with a GED must achieve a total score of 2500 in five areas, as well as achieve a 20 on the ACT or a 940 on the SAT. Programs in nursing and education require additional documentation, as well as evidence of involvement in the community, high academic achievement, and good character.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Park University charges between $250 and $415 per credit hour for undergraduate classes and the amount a student pays depends on his or her status as an undergraduate, veteran, active duty military, or federal employee. Graduate tuition at Park University also varies and is based on a student’s status. Rates vary from $408 to $577 per credit hour. Students who live on campus will pay between $1,550 and $3,790 for room and access to laundry rooms and must submit a room deposit of $100 upon acceptance to the university. Other fees a student may need to pay while attending Park University include an evaluation fee, student life fee, individual course fee, or end-of-course exam fee. Students who enroll in online classes at the undergraduate level will pay $399 per credit rather than the $415 per credit charged to Parkville campus students.
Students may qualify for loans, scholarships, grants, work-study awards, and private aid when they attend Park University. Eligibility generally requires that students are an eligible citizen or non-citizen, enrolled in a half-time or greater course load, and are registered with the Selective Service if required. The university recommends that students submit their FAFSA form as early as possible after October 1st. Students will receive a letter that will indicate the types of financial aid the school has awarded the student, and the university will automatically integrate any scholarships earned by the student into the financial aid award letter.
