Bachelor of Science – Psychology

Mid-America Christian University offers a Bachelor of Science in Psychology that provides students with an understanding of human behavior, psychological principles and introduces them to common psychological issues. Bachelor of Science – Psychology, Criminal Justice Concentration

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Criminal Justice provides students with an understanding of human behavior and psychological principles. Students gain an understanding of family life studies, psychology, and sociology with a biblical focus. The program provides students with an understanding of criminal justice in order to prepare them for careers in education, government, medical or criminal justice. About Mid-America Christian University

Mid-America Christian University began in 1953 as the South Texas Bible Institute, using the First Church of God facilities in Houston, Texas. Initially, the school was designed to prepare graduates for careers in ministry but added programs for members of the community who wished to achieve higher education with a Christian perspective by 1955.

In 1968, Gulf Coast Bible college became affiliated with the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana. By 1983, the school had run out of room to expand in Houston. The trustees conducted a lengthy study, determining that the school should be relocated to Oklahoma City. The new campus was dedicated in 1985 and renamed Mid-America Bible College.

Today, Mid-America Christian University has an enrollment over 2,400 and continues to provide a Christian liberal arts perspective in all programs.

Mid-America Christian University Accreditation Details

Mid-America Christian University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Accreditation indicates that the school undergoes periodic voluntary evaluations to confirm that they continue to offer students a high-quality education. During the review, if the Commission determines any areas need improvement, the school agrees to address those issues as soon as possible. Accreditation also indicates that the school has the resources to meet their stated goals and objectives.

Mid-America Christian University Application Requirements

Traditional students, those who are planning to enter Mid-America Christian University after high school graduation, must complete an online application and submit official high school transcripts. Official ACT or SAT scores are also required. Students must provide a recommendation form as well.

Non-traditional or adult applicants should fill out an online application and submit official high school transcripts. If they have attended college after high school graduation, they must also submit official college transcripts from all institutions. Students must complete a prior learning assessment and request that an enrollment counselor review all transfer credits.

Mid-America Christian University Tuition and Financial Aid

Traditional undergraduate tuition at Mid-America Christian University is $711 per credit hour. Adult and online undergraduate programs are $398 per credit hour for lower division classes and $478 per credit hour for upper division classes. Tuition for the Master of Science in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Emphasis, Master of Science in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health and Addictions Counseling as well as the Master of Science in Counseling, Marital, Couples, and Family Counseling Therapy emphasis is $639 per credit hour. The Master of Ministries program is $395 per credit hour and all other master’s programs are $395 per credit hour.

Financial aid is available and applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. The FAFSA must be completed annually to remain eligible for financial assistance. Students may qualify for grants or work-study programs. Scholarships are available but only for traditional, on-campus students. Students may also be offered loans but it is important to remember they must be repaid upon graduation.
