Summary
Le Tourneau University is a Christian school that requires its applicants to integrate their Christian faith into interaction with the university and sign a Behavioral Expectation Agreement. Students who apply to the Master of Arts program in Marriage and Family Counseling must have attained a 3.0 grade point average in undergraduate studies. In addition they must provide two references and submit a writing sample and resume.

Walden University students may take non-degree courses in Marriage and Family Counseling without benefit of a bachelor’s degree, but to work toward a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling, students must have completed an undergraduate- related field of study. The school is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. The M. S. program in Marriage and Family Counseling is relatively new and is not yet accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).

In 2013 the tuition is $455 per quarter credit hour.

#7 Argosy University

Summary
Argosy University offers a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and trains students for licenses which may be granted in many states. Students must have completed undergraduate studies at an accredited school before being granted admission. It is possible to complete the program in 28 months, but variables, such as transferred credits and ability to take and pass required courses in a timely manner, may hamper progress.

It is the responsibility of the student to confirm that conditions have been met to obtain a license to practice in their own state. Students must intern for three semesters in a setting that will integrate classroom theory with practical application.

While the University of Massachusetts has the only on- campus Marriage and Family Therapy program in the state that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), the same does not extend to online programs.
